Throughout the late 20th century when the number of Chinese-Canadian immigrants has been highest, the Chinese-Canadian community has contributed in many fields to the Canadian society
The Chinese-Canadian community has also grown much in the 21st century and currently accounts for 4.3% of the entire Canadian population or 1 346 510 people. [1] Mostly, the Chinese Canadian population resides in the Greater Toronto area (537 060), Greater Montreal (120 000), Metro Vancouver (402 000), Calgary Region (75 410), and Edmonton Capitol Region (53,670) [2]. Along with being a significant minority in Canada, the Chinese Canadian population also accounts for >25% of university graduates from Canada while 34% of second-generation Chinese immigrants work at "white collar" professional jobs. [4] Chinese Canadians have also been very active in politics, have multiple Chinese-Canadian MPs and as of 2000, the Chinese-Canadian population had the second-largest average annual income in Canada while thousands of Chinese immigrants; mostly from mainland China immigrate to Canada every year. In conclusion, there are many influential and powerful Chinese Canadians who are very involved in politics, public services, business, athletics, education, entertainment, visual arts, science and technology, media, and literature. They have also been very active in strengthening the Canadian colony with many small businesses and creating many new jobs.
